I have been seeing Wendy since 2010. Wendi rocks! She is totally awesome and I got amazing results with Artefill and Juvederm. Your office staff is really nice also. – Robbyn A. B.
Dermal fillers are among the most popular wrinkle treatments. They are used to replenish facial volume to create more youthful facial contours. The Juvéderm family of fillers is made up of various different hyaluronic acid based formulas. They are unique in their smooth texture, due to advanced cross-linking technology.

Juvéderm family of dermal fillers
The Juvéderm family of fillers was developed by Allergan, the manufacturers of Botox, one of the most trusted names in aesthetic medicine. These products include:
- Juvéderm XC – This non-surgical treatment was the first, and remains the only product to gain FDA-approval for smoothing wrinkles in and around the mouth and nose with results lasting up to 12 months.
- Juvéderm Voluma XC – In the cheek area, volume loss can cause a sunken appearance and sagging skin folds. Juvéderm Voluma XC is the only hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has been approved by the FDA for restoring volume in this area with results lasting up to 24 months.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Juvéderm?
Juvederm is a soft gel that is used as a dermal filler to remove lines and wrinkles. It is a non-surgical procedure and is administered by one of our highly-trained providers. It is made up of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance already found in your skin. The hyaluronic acid combines with water in your skin to create volume which then diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and lines instantly.
How long does it last?
Juvederm usually lasts around one year, but many patients see an effect for up to 18 months.
Where can Juvederm be used?
Juvederm can be used to soften smile lines, create chin and jaw volume, cheek volume, reduce lines around the mouth and for adding volume and definition to the lips.
How long will the treatment take?
After an initial consultation with the provider, the treatment itself will take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the size and number of areas to be treated. We can give you a topical numbing cream to reduce any discomfort associated with the injections which needs to be applied 30 minutes prior to your appointment.
Does it hurt?
Juvederm is injected into the skin using a fine needle to reduce discomfort. A topical numbing cream and ice will be applied prior to your injections to reduce the discomfort and Juvederm XC contains a numbing agent called lidocaine, which further reduces any discomfort.
What are possible side-effects?
Possible side-effects are usually mild to moderate. These may include some mild redness and swelling which usually settles within a day or two. You may also get some tenderness or bruising in the areas treated. Make-up can be used to cover any temporary discoloration.
Will I need a skin test?
No, Juvederm is made up of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance already found in your skin. This eliminates the need for skin testing or the worry of allergic reactions.
What is the recovery time after treatment?
The treatment requires minimal downtime. Most people can return to their normal daily routines right away. We recommend that you do not schedule a filler appointment within 2 weeks of any special events such as weddings, vacations or photography.
Is there anything I should avoid?
For 14 days prior to your appointment, we recommend that you do not use any blood-thinning medications, including aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen and naproxen. This will help reduce your chances of bruising after treatment.
Please do NOT stop any blood-thinning medications that have been prescribed to you by a doctor. For the 1st 24 hours after treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, the consumption of alcoholic beverages, the use of blood-thinning medications (unless recommended by your doctor), manipulating or sleeping on the treated area, and you should also avoid extended exposure to the sun, heat or freezing conditions.
