North Sound Dermatology Aesthetics is proud to offer a broad range of premium quality dermal fillers. Each product is unique, giving it distinct advantages in certain situations. Belotero is formulated to integrate smoothly with the skin, adding volume subtly with a natural appearance.
How Belotero works
Over time, skin loses volume and structure, making it more susceptible to wrinkles and creases. Some fillers are designed to give a dramatic lift in areas of extreme volume loss, but they are less than ideal for fine lines and shallow wrinkles, or in areas of where there is less volume loss, such as with sunken hollows below the eyes. These areas require precision treatment, and an exceptionally smooth product. Belotero stands apart from the rest in its ability to integrate subtly with the skin.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Belotero?
Belotero Balance is a soft gel that is used as a dermal filler to remove lines and wrinkles. It is a non-surgical procedure and is administered by one of our highly-trained providers. It is made up of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance already found in your skin. The hyaluronic acid combines with water in your skin to create volume which then diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and lines instantly.
What is the difference between Belotero Balance and other dermal fillers?
While Belotero is made of the same material (hyaluronic acid) as some other dermal fillers, Belotero has unique properties that allow it to adapt within the skin for soft and even correction. The versatility of the product makes it strong enough to handle deep treatment areas such as nasolabial folds (smile lines around the mouth), yet soft enough to treat more delicate areas such as vertical lip lines (thin lines that appear above the lip line).
How long does it last?
Belotero, on average, lasts 6-9 months.
Where can Belotero be used?
Belotero can be used to soften smile lines, create chin and jaw volume, cheek volume, reduce lines around the mouth and for adding volume and definition to the lips
How long will the treatment take?
After an initial consultation with the provider, the treatment itself will take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the size and number of areas to be treated. We can give you a topical numbing cream to reduce any discomfort associated with the injections which needs to be applied 30 minutes prior to your appointment.
Does it hurt?
Belotero is injected into the skin using a fine needle to reduce discomfort. A topical numbing cream and ice will be applied prior to your injections to reduce the discomfort and Belotero can be mixed with a numbing agent called lidocaine, which further reduces any discomfort.
What are possible side-effects?
Possible side-effects are usually mild to moderate. These may include some mild redness and swelling which usually settles within a day or two. You may also get some tenderness or bruising in the areas treated. Make-up can be used to cover any temporary discoloration.
Will I need a skin test?
No, Belotero is made up of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance already found in your skin. This eliminates the need for skin testing or the worry of allergic reactions.
Is there anything I should avoid?
For 14 days prior to your appointment, we recommend that you do not use any blood-thinning medications, including aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen and naproxen. This will help reduce your chances of bruising after treatment.
Please do NOT stop any blood-thinning medications that have been prescribed to you by a doctor. For the 1st 24 hours after treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, the consumption of alcoholic beverages, the use of blood-thinning medications (unless recommended by your doctor), manipulating or sleeping on the treated area, and you should also avoid extended exposure to the sun, heat or freezing conditions.
After a complete cosmetic evaluation, and an in-depth discussion of your goals, we will work with you to devise a custom treatment plan. Our team includes board-certified dermatologists, as well as board-certified dermatology PAs and board-certified dermatology ARNPs, all of whom are certified and highly experienced in the procedures that they perform.
